On August 10 and 11, a festival takes over Parque 93 in Bogotá that will revitalize your energy, soothe your body and give your mind plenty of ideas on how to live healthier. The first edition of Bien-Estar ¡YO! is organized by the park’s association Amigos del Parque 93, and during two days, the focus is on lifestyle choices and wellness, especially important as we are constantly being subjected to many external factors that do us harm.

Bien-Estar ¡YO!, translated as Wellness ¡Me! has an extensive program on a range of topics related to physical activities, carb-busting nutrition and anti-oxidant foods, as well as family time within the setting of a park. “This festival, like other events we organize, has as its main objective to provide valuable information to attendees that can contribute to the formation of citizens and improves, in some way, their quality of life,” believes Martha Helena Gámez, director of the Association. “In addition, we want everyone to appropriate this public space, as a place of social inclusion.”

Among the many guests who have been invited to participate in the first edition is educator and author Deborah Schoeberlein of Living Mindfully and Mindful Teaching and Teaching Mindfulness. With over 25-years experience in teaching youth and adults, and developing interactive curriculums, Schoeberlein will participate in the discussion: Breathing as a source of well-being and joined by Juan Sebastián Fernández of Respira Foundation. “We will gather in one scenario the best experts in wellness issues so that all citizens have the opportunity to know first hand, the news and trends that will help you to lead a healthy style and adopt new habits that can generate greater happiness,” remarks Gómez.

The agenda also highlights the participation of health coach and health educator Sandra Rangel with the panel discussion Conscious Food, and in the company of the nutritional coach Mauricio Franco. The panel titled Happiness is a decision, not an emotion brings together Pablo Arciniegas, Andrés Ramírez (master in happiness), and Alexandra Pumarejo as the moderator.

Adding musical flair to an event that will make you rethink lifestyle choices is the progressive rock band Gong, as well as singer/songwriter Daniela de Mari. Indie guitarist Lucas Hill will also perform at the festival.
