[dropcap]C[/dropcap]hef Juan Manuel Barrientos of El Cielo Restaurant invited friends and well-known personalities to celebrate the launch of El Cielo by Matiz, a signature arabica coffee cultivated in the region of the chef’s ancestors – Farallones de Citará, Antioquia.
The project to put his name to a 100% Colombian organic coffee took 2 years in the making and a fruitful partnership between the award-winning chef and one of Antioquia’s largest coffee producers, Colcafé.
From 7 pm until midnight more than 500 people attended the event and guests were entertained with live music by the Canadian-Colombian Dj Khaatyl who has performed at Toronto Fashion Week. Barrientos and the creative culinary team of El Cielo showcased cocktails and canapes inspired by their new gourmet coffee, which grows at 1,700 meters above sea level.
