Chinese Film Festival Returns to Bogotá’s Cinemateca

July 15 @ 6:30 pm - July 20 @ 9:00 pm

Bogotá is rolling out the red carpet for the second edition of the Chinese Film Festival, running from July 15 to 20 at the city’s Cinemateca Distrital. With nine acclaimed films and 13 screenings on the schedule, the festival offers an immersive journey into contemporary Chinese cinema.

The event opened with a special screening of I Am What I Am (2021), an animated coming-of-age film by director Sun Haipeng, celebrated for its rich visuals and powerful message of youth empowerment. The evening was inaugurated by China’s Ambassador to Colombia, Zhu Jingyang, who emphasized the festival’s role in bringing Colombians closer to the cultural heartbeat of modern China.

Among the highlights are Pegasus 2 (2024), a high-octane drama-comedy by Han Han; Moon Man (2022), a sci-fi box office hit; Love Never Ends (2023), a moving romance about aging; and Her Story (2024), a bold narrative centering contemporary Chinese women.

Marking 45 years of diplomatic ties between Colombia and China, the festival invites local audiences to experience a vibrant, diverse, and evolving cinematic landscape. Screenings and tickets are available at the Cinemateca’s website and box office.
