The gilded Republican theatre Teatro Faenza in Bogotá was the venue of a gala reception and concert on September 25 to present the line-up of the national and international artists invited to the 14th edition of the Music Festival of Cartagena, and which runs January 4 to 12, 2020, in the historic city.

The evening also included the unveiling of the official image created by the Barranquilla artist Álvaro Barrios “The Ascencion of Remedios, la Bella” which evokes the sensuality and magic realism of the heroine in Nobel Laureate Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude.

With the theme “Lo bello y Lo Sublime (The Beautiful and Sublime), the 14th edition will immerse audiences in the music of late Classic and early Romantic composers, with Hayden, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini and Schubert, the lead protagonists. Held in historic venues throughout the Old City, from small colonial chapels to the neo-Gothic Teatro Adolfo Mejía, as well as imposing Plaza San Pedro Claver, the Music Festival of Cartagena brings to stages renowned international ensembles, soloists and guest conductors, and for their next edition the programme includes performances by Camerata Salzburg (Austria); Supernova Rómantica; Trio di Parma (Italy); Auner String Quartett (Austria); Trio Madeira (Portugal); Chamber Orchestra of Colombia; Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Colombia; Prague Cello Quartet (Czech Republic); Cartagena Symphony Orchestra; Calidore String Quartet; Camerata Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Netherlands).

The event at Teatro Faenza was attended by representatives of the country’s business and artistic communties, and journalists who have covered the festival’s previous editions.
