As the sixth edition of the Bogotá fringe art festival Barcú winds down Sunday, September 22, The City Paper assembled a small gallery of some of the artists – from established to emerging – who presented their works in the historic district of La Candelaria.

From large scale works on canvas, including a giant mural created by the Dutch street artist Zedz, to multi-media presentations, and installations, Barcú covered the gamut of artistic sensibilities and expressions. With an estimated 20,000 visitors taking in a cultural festival that converts colonial houses into pop-up galleries, including an old forge in barrio Egipto, Barcú also entertained guests with a long slate of live acts, a silent disco, and film screenings.

Living up to its guiding mission of offering wall space to many artists without gallery representation, as well as showcasing works by leading names in the industry, Barcú 2019 proved that Bogotá is an inclusive destination for creative talent.
