- Herbarium of the Bronx, exhibition of the National Museum of Colombia in agreement with the District Institute of Cultural Heritage (IDPC), the FUGA and the Bronx Creative District, presents an alternative way of remembering through the study of the wild plants that grew in “the L” of the Bronx.
The exhibition Herbarium of the Bronx: Life and Memory among the Ruins arrives at the Bogotá cultural scene loaded with the stories of a territory that has been transformed over the years and that continues to evolve to become the great creative district of the country.
“This exhibition involves the construction of narratives with local communities, from everyday life; it puts stories in context and connects them to the city and the country. At the same time, and this is very important for us in museums and cultural institutions, it proposes other ways of doing and creating, more horizontal and participatory,” says Juliana Restrepo, director of the National Museum of Colombia.
The exhibition, which begins on Tuesday, February 15, tells through eleven plant species, voices, photographs, tissues, maps and instructions, how ruderal plants, born in places considered unsuitable for life, offer us an alternative way to remember from what was once “La L” or the old Bronx. This exhibition is the result of the alliance between the National Museum of Colombia, the District Institute of Cultural Heritage (IDPC), the FUGA and the Bronx Creative District.
- The exhibition will be present in three different spaces: the National Museum of Colombia, the façade of FUGA and, in the format of a face-to-face tour, in the space that was once known as “La L”, on Calle 10 with Carrera 15 Bis of the Bronx Creative District.
- Bronx Herbarium will open Feb. 15 through April 17.
