The Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená, who throughout her career has worked with directors such as Pierre Boulez, Gustavo Dudamel and Claudio Abbado, among others, will make a presentation together with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, an Italian ensemble recognized for their interpretation of historic works and commitment to the rediscovery of works from the 17th and 18th Centuries. In the concert at Teatro Mayor, Kožená will perform arias from ‘Alcina’ by Georg Friedrich Händel, as well as lyrical compositions by Baroque composers Antonio Vivaldi, Pietro Antonio Locatelli, Baldassare Galuppi and Alessandro Marcello.
The Venice Baroque Orchestra was founded in 1997 and has given modern premieres of historic pieces such as Vivaldi’s ‘Athenaide’ and ‘Andromeda liberata’ and tours frequently in concert and opera venues around the world. Together with Magdalena Kožená the orchestra has recorded two albums with arias by Vivaldi and Händel.
