Fifteen galleries participating in the sixth edition of Odeón Contemporary Art Fair

As part of the October city-wide art circuit hosted by ARTBO, the Bogotá International Art Fair, from October 28 to 31 Espacio Odeón: Centro Cultural will host their sixth edition of Odeón Contemporary Art Fair and that aims to promote emerging galleries and independent spaces at the forefront of contemporary art. This year’s fair brings together galleries from Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Brazil and Colombia.

Although, the main focus is on contemporary art, this edition includes an alternative program with different artistic proposals, such as the performance Animated Composition by Spanish Artist Sonia Gómez, created specifically for Odeón’s multi-level spaces, as well as concerts by local bands made up of visual artists.

The other two big novelties of the sixth edition are “Temporal” and the “Take-Over by KB”. “Temporal” is a stand that will rotate every two days with Bogotá’s most emerging and cutting-edge galleries. These spaces, which have never before participated in such a platform are: Salon Comunal, Grey Cube Projects and Rat Trap.

KB-Espacio Para la Cultura is a local gallery that promotes contemporary art and emerging artists, but also has a bar and a complete cultural program that includes concerts, screenings and workshops. On Saturday 29, KB will take-over the fair’s main social area, “La Quinta”, with a bazaar in which local artists will participate with alternative activities. Alejandro Londoño will be doing balloon art, while Juan Echeverrí will have a stick and poke tattoo stand and Mariana Rico will be creating pins with visitor’s photos.

In addition to these proposals, visitors will also be able to see the site-specific light bulb installation of Brazilian artist Marlon de Azambuja – Air, Light, Time and Space.

For Espacio Odeón director Tatiana Rais engaging young collectors and emerging artists is what this fair  can offer, as well as the chance for aspiring collectors to purchase works at affordable prices. For the general public it is also part of exploring colonial La Candelaria, where the 15 participating galleries are housed for four days in a very centrally-located venue.

Among the galleries invited this year are: Addaya Centre d´Art Contemporani (Spain); ATM (Gijón-Austurias, Spain); Banasta Mediaciones Arte y Cultura (Colombia); Galería Karen Huber (Mexico), KB – Espacio para la Cultura (Colombia) ; Klaus Steinmetz Contemporary Art (Costa Rica) ; Lokkus Arte Contemporáneo (Colombia); Nube (Bolivia) ; Galería Otros 360º (Colombia) ; Portas Vilaseca Galeria (Brazil), Rincón Projects (Colombia), SGR Galería (Bogotá, Colombia); Zipper Galeria (Colombia).

Tickets for the fair are priced: $15,000 adults and $10,000 students.
