Colombia went home empty handed this year at the 58th annual Grammy Awards, presented Monday afternoon in Los Angeles.

Colombian bands Monsieur Periné and Bomba Estereo competed head to head in the Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album category, but lost out to Natalia Lafourcade for her album Hasta la Raíz and Pitbull for Dale, who shared the award.

The winner was announced in a ceremony before the live broadcast began, where more than 70 lesser-known categories were featured.

Monsieur Periné garnered a nomination for their second album, Caja de Música and Bomba Estereo for their fourth album, Amanecer.

The other competitor in the category was La Cuneta Son Machin. Natalia Lafourcade also swept the Latin Grammy awards in November.

Bomba Estereo drew global attention last year when actor and hip-hop artist Will Smith collaborated with the group on a remix of their single “Fiesta,” a song that celebrates the festivities of the Carnaval de Barranquilla. Smith performed the song with Bomba Estereo at the Latin Grammys.

Colombia has enjoyed plenty of Grammy success in the past. Shakira, Juanes and Carlos Vives are all two-time winners, with the latter being the most recent for his 2015 album “Más + Corazón Profundo.”

The country also had a strong showing at the Latin Grammys, taking home eight awards including Best New Artist for Monsieur Periné.

The self-proclaimed “biggest night” in music, this year’s Grammys features an all-star lineup of performers and presenters including Adele, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. LL Cool J hosts for the fifth year in a row.
