Film: Raoul Peck retrospective
The Cinemateca Distrital presents a retrospective of the works of Haitian director Raoul Peck. Profit and Nothing But, or Impolite Thoughts on the Class Struggle looks at the contrasts between Haiti and the rest of the world. Lumumba: Death of a Prophet documents the life and assassination at the hands of the CIA and Belgian government of Patrice Lumumba, a Congolese political leader, through the words of his mother. Lumumba, a follow-up to his 1991 documentary, details the Belgian government’s eventual apology for the leader’s assassination and new details revealed after the production of the first film.
