Argentine soprano Verónica Cangemi joins the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra’s youth chamber for a concert on April 8 (8:00pm) at Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo under the baton of conductor Roger Diaz-Cajamarca.
The concert’s repertoire includes works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his renowned opera arias ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘The Marriage of Figaro’, as well as excerpts from the Austrian composer’s Salzburg Symphony.
Cangemi is recognized as an icon of baroque music and frequent guest of major opera houses and festivals such as the Vienna State Opera, Glyndebourne, Covent Garden, the Salzburg Festival and Champs Elysees Theatre, to name a few.
She was one of the stellar acts of the V International Festival of Classical Music of Bogotá, where she performed arias from the operas Orlando furioso by Händel and Vivaldi. She has performed with conductors Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado, John Elliot Gardiner, Andrea Marcon, Fabio Biondi, William Christie, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Sir Neville Marriner, Jean Christophe Spinosi, and Marc Minkowski, among others.
Her extensive discography with the Harmonia Mundi, Virgin Classics, Naïve and Deutsche Grammophon labels has received awards such as the Diapason d’Or and the Orphée d’Or award.
Tickets range between $40,000 pesos and $120,000.
