One of Bogotá’s more alternative cultural spaces, Espacio Odeon, is opening its stairwells and exhibition rooms, from February 17-24 for a Subasta Silente, or public and silent auction. The auction, En Tiempo Presente, aims to raise funds for the Visual Arts Program Odeon 2016.

To participate in the auction, the arts entity invited a long listing of some of the most talented artists in the country, such as Michelangelo Rojas, Luis Roldán, Ana Maria Rueda, Maria Elvira Escallón, Juan Mejia (the current winner of the the Luis Caballero Prize), Nicolás Consuegra, Maximo Florez, Luz Angela Lizarazo, Adriana Salazar, Eduard Moreno, Leyla Cardenas, Maria Isabel Rueda, as well as young talents, Juliana Gongora, Daniel Salamanca and Piñeros Diego Garcia, winners of the ‘Creation Scholarship’ for emerging artists of the Ministry of Culture.

Espacio Odeon was founded in 2011 in order to revive an abandoned theater on the fringes of the La Candelaria district of Bogotá. This important architectural and cultural heritage site, since then, has strengthened the contemporary art scene in the city’s center and its curatorial processes of research and arts criticism has led to innovative exhibitions and installations by national, as well as international artists.

This year, Espacio Odeon reaches a five-year milestone having hosted many individual shows and collectives. Now, it’s the turn for private collectors to do their part, with 40 artists represented and covering almost a half-century of creative enterprise with the En Tiempo Presente auction.

To participate in this silent auction you must register as a bidder by completing and signing the registration form. This can be done by sending an email to or in person at the Odeon space from February 17.

The exhibition and auction will be open to the public February 17-24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
