These two vendors aren’t exactly reading the classic of Colombian literature, One Hundred Years of Solitude, even though they tend their stalls just blocks from the house of this country’s Nobel Laureate, Gabriel García Márquez. As the midday sun beats down on the yellow clock tower of Cartagena and passageway to the usually busy streets of the walled city, the straw sombreros and used books are emblematic of a place dedicated to the pursuit of leisure and literature.
