Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and his wife Maria Clemencia Rodriguez de Santos arrived in London this week for an official state visit. His arrival marks the first time a Colombian president has made the trip in an official capacity.
Santos will be staying at Buckingham Palace and has so far taken the opportunity to address Prime Minister Theresa May, members of parliament, business and commerce leaders, members of the royal family and other key figures.
Even the iconic London Eye was lit up in the colors of the Colombian flag to celebrate the visit.
Santos’ arrival in the U.K. comes just weeks after he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to reach a peace accord with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrilla group.
