Fishermen make for good photo moments, especially when they cast their nets in the afternoon from their dug out canoes on the Magdalena River. Circling in on the “Bocachico” fish is a way of life for many who navigate the lagoons and estuaries of this mighty river. Barrancabermeja based photojournalist Ricardo Peréz has been documenting with his camera the techniques used for catching the daily catch. Images, such as this one, taken in a remote part of the middle Magdalena- known as Llanito -have won him numerous awards, especially for the composition, and his use of light.
